Fortune’s End is a Metroidvania inspired Action-Platformer. You play as a Treasure Hunting Adventurer who must search for the treasures required to defeat the evils that reside within the ruins of an ancient Castle. Taking inspiration from Hollow Knight, Castlevania and Dark Souls.

The game aims to fulfil the spirit of a Metroidvania while (due to the constraints imposed by development time) being a shorter and more simplified version of the more traditionally Long-Form of Game Design practices used by Metroidvanias.

The game has full Controller Support except in the Main Menu

Just played v0.3 and the game is looking great! The artsyle is consistant througout and the sound really complimentes the atmosphere. In the beginning it would be nice to have a tutorial for movement controls and I was unaware how to move until looking at your itch page. When it comes to movement, I feel that the game needed the double jump as it was difficult to get to some platforms with a single jump, it also felt more fun doing a double jump, reminded me of Shovel Knight. For the attacking, I'd suggest going for a keyboard input rather than mouse click as it felt a little awkward going from keyboard to mouse. Watch out for the chest as well, as I managed to get stuck, but I did like the feeling of exploration to different areas trying to find collectables.

Great job and I can't wait to see the next version!

Hi, have played your game and I have some feedback to share:

  • The sounds, particle effects and rigged sprite make this game feel alive and pretty cool.
  • The game looks really nice, but you need to make sure that the animations are synced properly as it is quite jarring
  • The gravity seems far too high, and I miss a lot of jumps.
  • I found that my introduction with the enemy was not strong enough, I was not forced to use my sword, it just fell in the hole
  • I want to be able to open the chest at the top, I spent a lot of time getting there, but was not rewarded.  I think overall your game should feel more rewarding for completing sections of it
  • Looking forward to playing some more content, keep it up :)
